Publication “public preposition”

Central to the planned publication “public preposition” are questions of public space art, social change in an urban context, site-specificity and the fundamental question of the public sphere per se. The approach to this topic goes hand in hand with an exclusive selection of contributuions from various authors and documents a variety of projects realised by Mischa Kuball subsumed under this title and that place “public space art” in a broader context.

The editor of the book Vanessa Joan Müller is Curator-at-Large at the Kunsthalle Wien and has published numerous essays on contemporary art and her special focus is upon contemporary art and its social and political contexts.

Barbara Steiner, is a freelance curator in Leipzig and was Director and Curator at the Stiftung Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig (GfZK) from 2001–2011. She is a curator and author with a special interest in the politics of representation (institutional critique, architecture and display) and the critique of economics within the field of art exhibitions and museum practice.

Blair French, senior curator am MCA, Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, he curated the Public Art Biennale SCAPE in Christchurch, New Zealand. He published texts on art, curating and public space art.

Zoran Erić, since 2003 head of department and curator of the Collection of New Art Media at the Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade.

The publication presents the individual projects in an incisive series of images and explanatory texts. The essays take a general approach to the subject and discuss the key themes of “public prepositions” germane to context-specific, public space art.
The book ‘public preposition’ will be published in German and Englisch in autum 2015 by DISTANZ Verlag Berlin.
